UF will soon have a fresh, fully responsive virtual “front door”: The university’s new homepage will go live on Tuesday morning, November 3. The design provides an updated interface for visitors who add to the 1.3 million page views UFL.EDU receives each month, and better aligns with UF’s new branding initiatives.
The process to redesign the UF homepage was collaborative. “We had faculty and staff involved at every level of the decision-making process, from examining site architecture to evaluating the end-user experience. Our goal was to refresh and improve the user experience while making the design more reflective of our high-caliber students, faculty and staff,” said Nicole Yucht, interim assistant vice president of University Relations Marketing and Creative Services.
The date for go live was determined around the fall admissions cycle. University administrators didn’t want to make any changes that might disrupt the application process for the thousands of potential new Gators and their families.
Colleges and UF units wanting to adapt the new template for their use will be able to do so in Spring, 2016, when templates and online training materials and support are available. In the meantime, anyone with questions or comments about the new homepage may email Kim Standifer, manager, UF Web Services.
