During summer 2013, UFIT partnered with the Program for Resource Efficient Communities (PREC) to create My Florida Energy Projects for the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS). The website, which has maps, graphs, and other data, allows users to check out energy-saving projects from across the state.
PREC, part of IFAS extension, promotes resources that allow communities to reduce energy consumption. The My Florida Energy Projects site provides data collected from projects funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The application was created to assist the public and policy makers determine which projects should be pursued in the future. The site offers visitors many tools, including:
• A map with regional data featuring projects, energy saved, grant dollars, and dollars saved
• Graphs and charts with filtering abilities
• An advanced search function and a glossary of terms
UFIT hosts the application and will continue to support the project. Currently, the UFIT project team is working on enhancing the site’s administrative features, such as the ability for authenticated users to update project data and add new grant programs.
