UFIT has significantly reduced processing time of the finance batch. What does this mean for campus? Updated financial information in myUFL each morning by 8:00 a.m. means the reports and data warehouse used by faculty and staff are more accurate and display ‘real time’ fund information.
The finance batch is the nightly event where data from each day’s financial transactions handled through myUFL are posted to the corresponding accounts. The finance or ‘FI’ portion of the nightly batch averages well over 1,000 individual jobs. The FI batch now finishes processing before 8:00 a.m.
“Customer service is very important to Treasury Management,” says Cheryl Bell, associate controller. “The improvement in finance batch processing allows us to begin our morning review of departmental deposits promptly and ensures departments have timely access to funds.”
Reduction of the FI batch run-time is the result of refocusing resources in UFIT departments. Enterprise Systems and Computing & Networking Services staff analyzed system, application, and organizational improvement opportunities, identifying several ways to expedite processes during system peak-load periods. Questions about the FI batch can be emailed to the Finance Batch Report group email, which includes members of UF’s Finance & Accounting staff as well as finance team members of Enterprise Systems.
