The halls of UFIT’s Enterprise Systems (ES) have been transformed into an art gallery, full of paintings, prints, and sculptures. UFIT coordinated with the Artisans’ Guild Gallery of Gainesville, a local gallery featuring art from over 50 members. Every three months, the art displays will be switched out, with receptions featuring the artists who are debuting new pieces.
Besides the obvious enhancement to the work environment, the addition of artwork provides added value: Kate Marrin, a member of ES who was part of the team that coordinated efforts with the Guild, said visual-thinking skills improve the capacity to solve challenges with creativity and innovation.
“We recognize the value of the visual arts and know that it’s not all about promoting the artwork, but instead it provides a unique way of seeing and interpreting internal experiences,” she said.
Artwork provided by the Guild is available for purchase, and many of the Guild artists are willing to do custom work. Anyone in the UF community who creates their own artwork is welcome to display their art as part of the exhibit (the piece may or may not be for sale). If you are interested in purchasing any of the artwork, please email Kate Marrin or call UFIT’s Enterprise Systems at (352) 273-1006.
