Security Awareness Contest Winners Announced

The UFIT Security Awareness Video & Poster Contest winners have been chosen. The winning poster was submitted by Arts + Technology major Julia Simeone. The winning video was submitted by Telecommunications major Doug Yablun.

Julia and Doug’s entries were part of a campus-wide contest for students to create posters and videos designed to raise awareness of information security issues. Judging was done by UFIT’s Information Security and Compliance team, who scored entries based on five criteria:

1. Originality
2. Creativity
3. Persuasiveness on Information Security Topic Addressed
4. Attention-Grabbing Visual/Graphical Elements
5. Overall Attractiveness

“Sponsoring this contest on behalf of UFIT is a no-brainer,” said Rob Adams, UF’s Chief Information Security Officer. “Getting students engaged in the information security awareness process is so important, and seeing communications prepared by their peers increases the campus-wide conversation.”

The contest, which ran from January 8 – February 22, attracted entries by students in five of UF’s colleges. In addition to prizes and plaques, the winners and runners-up will see their posters and videos utilized in several campus communications channels.
