Worried about how to keep your Windows PC updated with the latest versions of Java and Flash? Try installing Secunia Personal Software Inspector (PSI). Secunia PSI is a free software solution for PCs running Windows that scans and identifies insecurities associated with out-of-date programs and plug-ins–particularly Java and Flash.
Keeping third-party programs and plug-ins updated is an essential part of protecting Windows computers from potential malware attacks. Once installed, Secunia PSI automatically scans your PC and alerts you whenever programs and plug-ins require updating. Secunia PSI will then either auto-update programs or, if an auto-update is unavailable, recommend links for you to go to and manually download a new version of the outdated program.
Secunia PSI is for personal Windows PCs. Faculty or staff interested in downloading Secunia for a UF-managed PC should contact their local IT support staff. For more information on Secunia PSI and how to download it to your PC, visit http://software.ufl.edu/agreements/secunia/.
For questions on personal installation support, stop by the UF Computing Help Desk at the Hub, or call (352) 392-HELP or visit them online.
