It’s important to “scrub” laptops and smartphones to be sure they are free of malware, spyware, and viruses. How can you go about doing this? By installing an antivirus program approved by UF’s Information Security Office. Both antivirus and malware prevention software are required on devices before they can connect to UF’s network.
After selecting an antivirus program, download it and run a full system scan. This can take more than an hour to complete, so make sure you allow enough time for the program to run. After the scan process is finished, clear your device of anything that shouldn’t be there. The antivirus software will assist you in doing this.
Vsit UF’s Mobile Device Security web page for more information on ways to protect your devices and the data stored on them. Help Desk staff are also available 24/7 via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or phone (352-392-HELP ) if you have any questions about antivirus scans.
