UFIT Research Computing recently updated its storage offerings. The UF prices, which are subsidized, have not changed. The new storage option ($25/TB/year) is called the “orange” option, while the existing /ufrc storage is now the “blue” option. The options support different use cases, summarized at Help > Getting Started > Storage.
Replicated storage is no longer a service offering, though storage of older (historical) versions of files is available. This can be provided with the tape backup option described at About > Policies > Storage > Data Protection. Development of a disk-based backup option is also underway.
UF Research Computing only provides storage accessible through HiPerGator. Customers who previously purchased storage only accessible through their workstations and servers will be contacted to work out a transition plan over the next nine months. Going forward, all storage supported by Research Computing will require GatorLink authentication (same as Active Directory), with management of users and groups controlled by HiPerGator systems. Researchers who would like to discuss their data storage options are welcome to contact Erik Deumens, Director of Research Computing (firstname.lastname@example.org, 352-392-6980).
