Fall 2013 Research Computing Day

Logo for Fall 2013 RC Day

Fall 2013 RC Day will focus on big data processing. The presentations and panel discussion will serve as both informational and input gathering opportunities, since UFIT Research Computing staff are engaging with faculty researchers to better understand the need for new services. Among the requests received (and open for discussion at RC Day) are:

● Storage infrastructure for sharing research data with “Dropbox-like” functionality
● Web servers with web applications that share research data and offer compute services
● Big data analytics with Hadoop-style file systems
● Virtual machine provisioning for special software needs and virtual apps
● Virtual machines and networks for use by computer science and engineering students

Fall 2013 RC Day will be held in UF’s new Clinical and Translational Research Building (CTRB). The agenda is available on the RC Day site, as are previous RC Day presentations.

Pre-registration is required, with seating limited to 70 members of UF’s faculty and computing community. Email UFIT Communications to reserve a seat for Fall 2013 RC Day.
