UF Information Technology (UFIT) was presented with a Journey to the Cloud award at the recent VMworld 2012 conference. These annual, peer-evaluated awards recognize exceptional IT organizations and individuals that are helping their organizations to do more–like driving innovation and performance–with their move to cloud computing.

“Businesses and government organizations continue to leverage virtualization as the foundation of their journey to cloud computing,” said Jeremy Burton, Executive Vice President of Product Operations & Marketing for EMC², the company that sponsors the awards. “Along the way, these organizations are completely transforming their IT for radical improvements in efficiency and agility.”

Among the values UFIT was recognized for are:

■ Implementing cloud solutions that drive efficiency and flexibility for UF academic, research, and administrative needs
■ Transforming UF business processes with innovative storage solutions and integrating products and applications

Accepting the award on behalf of UFIT at VMworld 2012 were Iain Moffat and members of UFIT’s Open Systems Group. Contact the Open Systems Group with any questions or for more information about UF’s cloud computing environment.
