Via Twitter, UFIT asked where Wi-Fi expansion was most needed on campus. No surprise–Twitter followers want more Wi-Fi coverage at The Swamp. You asked and we delivered!
UFIT just completed installing access points in the stadium concourse, where people jog and stretch out for a Bootcamp class or prior to taking on the steps of Florida Field. The boost in Wi-Fi coverage allows you to rev up the Amazon Prime and rock out while you work out! (On football gamedays, Wi-Fi will be reserved for law enforcement and emergency support services to help ensure the safety of fans in the Swamp.)
Up next: Installing additional Wi-Fi access points on Reitz Union’s North Lawn. This heavily trafficked area is a challenge because the open green space doesn’t offer many options for discreet placement of antennas, and it’s important that technology placements don’t take away from the beauty of our campus. The North Lawn expansion will be completed before the start of the fall semester. Where else does UF need a Wi-Fi boost? Tweet your suggestion to UFIT and we’ll make sure your comments get to the right people!
