Student Affairs Relies on Skype for Business

Using Skype for Business has meant increased productivity for UF’s Division of Student Affairs. The Skype for Business service, available to students through GatorCloud, includes video conferencing, file transfer, IM, and collaboration tools like the virtual whiteboard.

Natalie Rella, a specialist for GatorWell Health Promotion Services, noted the ease of dragging over and then sharing files via Skype for Business’s IM feature. Anthony DeSantis, associate dean at the Dean of Students Office, uses Skype for Business daily to communicate with both staff and student assistants. Dr. DeSantis said one of his favorite features of the service is screen sharing. He finds it especially helpful when technical issues occur, because the Student Affairs IT team can access the screen.

“It’s definitely easier to get a hold of someone,” he said.
