Conversations about IT issues impacting campus have a new, secure home: the IT Discussions LISTSERV.
IT-DISCUSSION-L@LISTS.UFL.EDU is open to current university employees. Using this LISTSERV is a great way to exchange ideas, discuss solutions to IT problems, and ask questions to the community, all within a secure communication channel.
The protected environment of the IT Discussions LISTSERV is important, because information about systems settings, hosting locations, and network security should remain within the university. Information security threats can be local or from anywhere around the world. Since universities tend to have very open and “collegial” environments, cyber criminals often try to penetrate systems and steal data, like research or student/staff personally identifying information.
To join, send an email with “JOIN IT-DISCUSSION-L” in the body of the email. Conversations on the LISTSERV are auto-archived for later reference. The LISTSERV is also available in digest version–just send an email request with “SET IT-DISCUSSION-L DIGEST” in the subject line.
Be a part of the conversation focused exclusively on UF’s IT environment, or one of the many other topical LISTSERVS hosted by UFIT. Please phone (352-273-4909) or email Anne Allen for assistance with the IT Discussions LISTSERV.
