Enhancing the UF Visitors’ Wi-Fi Network

UFIT is replacing the university’s guest Wi-Fi network on Sunday, February 26. The new ufguest network, already live in the renovated O’Connell Center, will be live in all areas that the current ufvisitor network is available. Several end-user enhancements are part of the ufguest deployment, making connecting to Wi-Fi while on campus a more streamlined and efficient process. Enhancements include:

  1. A better Wi-Fi connection, due to built-in network redundancies
  2. A simplified experience–guest users no longer have to establish a temporary access PIN
  3. A Wi-Fi network that can handle more simultaneous users

Starting on February 26, users will see ufguest replace ufvisitor in their device’s wireless network connection box. UFIT is evaluating Wi-Fi network expansion locations and will announce any additions as soon as the workplan is approved.
