UFIT is increasing the capacity of the Trend Micro OfficeScan service to help protect the UF community from viruses and ransomware. The service, launched in Spring 2017, is underwritten by UFIT, allowing departments to forego managing their own anti-virus service contracts.
Trend Micro currently protects about 10,000 computers and printers or “endpoints” around campus. Many UF units already employ Trend Micro including the Health Science Center, where it has been in use for more than a decade. Recent hardware enhancements have expanded capacity, allowing UFIT to offer Trend Micro to more departments.
“Our transition to Trend Micro AV was simple,” said Micah Johnson, System Administrator at the Levin College of Law’s Technology Services. “The service behaves nicely and catches more malware. The best part is that I’ve had to spend very little time managing Trend Micro after our migration, allowing me more time to assist customers in other ways.”
Trend Micro OfficeScan replaced BigFix anti-virus protection earlier this year as part of BigFix’s sunset.
