On opening day Gator baseball and softball fans were greeted with bold new digital scoreboards at McKethan and Pressly Stadiums.
The new digital scoreboards display vivid color images and player statistics along with more detailed game information. The scoreboard capabilities are equal to those found in many minor league ballparks, with the high quality video capabilities required to broadcast in-game highlight clips and commercial videos.
The crowds of 5,000+ at Gator baseball’s opening weekend were clearly impressed. “The gator seems like he is jumping right off the scoreboard,” said sophomore Tessa Giardi. “The visiting team’s right fielder better watch out!”
The University Athletic Association’s IT department runs the new advanced video board display software, updating the content throughout the game. UAA IT supports the statistical network ‘frames’ that feed all the digital media onto the scoreboards. This includes running both the Venus 7000 and Show Control System, which adds a touch screen operating system and live data integration, making it easier to configure and manage the digital scoreboards. The constant digital updates throughout the games provide Gator fans with an enhanced gameday experience.
