The information technology job market is looking bright for students graduating in 2014 and for IT professionals seeking a new position. According to Dice.com’s Tech Hiring Survey, 73 percent of hiring managers who responded say they are hiring more technology pros in the next six months. Here are some tips on landing an IT job:
• Build a network of IT peers to grow your skills and make connections
• Be prepared to show code, a computer game, or a mobile app to a prospective employer
• Be able to explain how your skills fit into an employer’s business goals
The UF Career Resource Center is hosting a Technical Career Showcase on January 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the O’Connell Center. The event is open to all UF students, regardless of major, as well as UF alumni. (Your Gator 1 Card is required for entry.) The Career Resource Center recommends bringing a notepad, planner, and multiple copies of your resume.
