Zoom Conference Tool Replacing BigBlueButton in e-Learning

UF’s e-Learning environment will fully transition to Zoom from BigBlueButton (BBB) for conference services by Fall 2019. When the transition is complete the “Conferences” (BBB) function will revert to the free access license version with its reduced functionality.

The existing Zoom service in e-Learning will be upgraded to Zoom Conferences in time for Summer A. The upgrade will mean that faculty-created conferences are automatically added to the course calendar, with notifications to students of these conferences. Students can also use Zoom Conferences to create, join, record, or view recorded meetings within e-Learning. As of the Summer A term, Zoom Conferences will be the default for all courses. BBB (via Conferences) will be available through the Summer 2019 term. Users are encouraged to download any recordings they wish to keep by the end of Summer A. Courses that require students to use Conferences via Group Pages will have to be adapted since group assignments in Zoom Conferences works differently. Step-by-step guides to transition to Zoom Conferences will be published on the UFIT Training website.

Faculty needing assistance with any aspect of e-Learning may call (352-392-HELP/4357, option 3) or email the e-Learning Support group at the UF Computing Help Desk.
