December 19, 2014
The UF Computing Help Desk will have limited availability over winter break. On Wednesday, December 24, Help Desk walk-in support is available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. No support will be available on Christmas day (any messages left on Dec. 25 will be returned the following day). The Hub is closed December 26 through January 1, but 24/7 phone support is still available. Normal hours resume on Friday, January 2 at 7:30 a.m. You can also troubleshoot email and connectivity problems yourself with the Help Desk’s online self-help guide.
UFIT-managed labs close at 5 p.m. on December 19 for the break but don’t worry: If you’re in Gainesville during intersession and need access to computers, printers, and software, Library West and Marston Science Library will be open certain days during the break with limited hours (including Christmas Eve). The libraries’ intersession hours can be viewed here.
Remember, you don’t have to be in Gainesville to take advantage of campus software. Access Microsoft, AutoCAD 2014, Matlab, SolidWorks, and more over the break with UFApps. You can also become an expert on Excel, WordPress, After Effects or Photoshop prior to the start of the Spring 2015 semester with lynda.com tutorials…UF students, faculty, and staff can access lynda 24/7/365 for free!
