UF Leads State in MOOC Offerings
February 15, 2016

In 2013, UF was a pioneer in Massive Open Online Courses or “MOOCs”, launching the first ones available from a university in Florida. Three years later, UF is still the statewide leader in free, open online education.
There are 12 University of Florida MOOCs currently offered through Coursera, covering topics ranging from global sustainable energy to the genesis of rock ānā roll. In spring 2016, UF leads all universities in Florida in MOOC offerings–the next highest total is the University of Central Florida, with three.
Instructors interested in developing a MOOC should begin the design process by submitting the Course Assistance Request Form. UF’s Office of Distance & Continuing Education also support instructors interested in developing a fully online distance learning program. For more information please contact Brian K.
