UF Instructors Embracing Canvas

Michelle Darnell, Lecturer in WCBA

With less than a year to go before
all courses must be in Canvas, 88.4% of online courses scheduled for Fall 2015 are already there. Michelle Darnell, a lecturer in the Warrington College of Business Administration, Department of Management, shares why she was an early adopter:

“Here are the top three things I like about Canvas, and that you can look forward to:

• Email in Canvas is integrated with your UFL.EDU email. Students email me in Canvas, it’s sent to my UF email, I can respond to students through my UF email, and Canvas documents the whole conversation
• The “Speedgrader” function makes grading easier. Case in point: You can preview documents that students have uploaded and even highlight text or make comments in preview mode, without having to actually download, edit, save, and re-upload the document
• Canvas makes it easy to link files and assignments to text you’ve written out for students–no more, ‘where do I find [fill in the blank]?’ questions!”

Instructors should consider moving to Canvas now to avoid the rush next Spring. For migration assistance please complete the Course Migration Request form on the http://lss.at.ufl.edu website. E-Learning assistance is available by calling Learning Support Services at (352) 392-HELP/4357, option 3.
