A second UF Computing Help Desk location will soon open in the library.
The Help Desk in West is on the 3rd floor of Library West, directly across from the double elevators. The additional location will follow the Library West schedule, extending IT support availability after the HUB Help Desk closes at 10 p.m.
UFIT staff at the Help Desk in West will provide the same services as the HUB location, excluding hardware and laptop drop-off repair. The IT specialists will be available to help students with Gatorlink account assistance, VPN login issues, online courseware support, and technical consulting. Help Desk in West staff will also offer assistance with the following library-specific IT support:
• Library printing and scanning
• Loading microfilm machines
• Connecting laptops to wall monitors via VGA-HDMI
• Saving research documents
This pilot (test) service, funded by the Office of the CIO, will run through the Spring 2014 semester. A soft-launch of the Help Desk in West is scheduled for August 21-22 from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., with the official opening on August 25 at 10 p.m. For more information please contact assistant university librarian Stacey Ewing.
