Spring Peer2Peer Recap

Crowd Attending Spring P2P

The Spring 2013 Peer2Peer event was packed on Thursday, April 18, with more than 80 people attending. UFIT hosts P2P twice a year during the spring and fall semesters, focusing each event on timely training sessions for the IT technical community.

The first speaker at the Spring P2P was IT Manager Kevin Hanson, who presented options on how to manage Apple devices on campus. “Just like Windows machines, there is a need on campus to manage Apple products and ensure UF’s security policies are followed,” he said. “This presentation lets people know what tools to use.”

Other presentations included updates from the Information Security & Compliance team, an overview of the UF Data Center, Shibboleth changes and features, and the Enterprise System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).

“This is the only event I see on campus that serves to distribute info to a wide IT audience,” said Erik Schmidt, chair of the IT Training Committee. “Attendance is up, so it shows people are interested in the presentations.”

For those unable to attend this semester, the Spring P2P presentations are available online. Have a suggestion for a Fall 2013 P2P topic? Email the IT Training Committee.
