Reminder: New Accessibility Support Tool Goes Live This Week

The Ally tool for Electronic and Information Technology Accessibility (EITA) will be available in Canvas on May 10, 2018. Ally automatically reviews courses for any EITA compliance issues, makes suggestions, and repairs certain issues without altering content. (The presentation of individual content items is converted–PDFs will become accessible PDFs but the content itself is not changed.) UFIT created a helpful, short video showcasing many of Ally’s capabilities and how to use the tool’s features.

Ally assists faculty and course creators by ensuring equal access to all users, regardless of ability. Ally also makes course content compliant with UF’s EITA policy faster and easier. An added benefit: the Ally service makes alternate delivery modes available, improves pedagogy, and efficiently accommodates multiple learning styles. Students or course participants can also use Ally to convert files formats for their personal use without impacting course content for others.
