New Accessibility Tool Implementation

The University of Florida’s e-Learning environment will soon have a new feature for accessibility checking: The Ally tool will be available in e-Learning on May 10. Since many instructors leave for the summer, UFIT is announcing this enhancement now, due to the change it will bring to the faculty user experience within e-Learning.

The Ally implementation will not create any barriers to publishing new or updated content, or cause any type of work stoppage. Ally will check PDFs and other documents within a course framework and provide instructors with suggestions on how to make their content more accessible. In addition to the helpful tools inside the Ally accessibility checker, UFIT has developed short (45 seconds to one minute) videos on using the Ally features.

UF’s e-Learning Advisory Committee selected the date for Ally’s integration. The Ally service is part of the expanding portfolio of services dedicated to helping faculty and staff create and maintain accessible online environments.
