Library West is packed, especially during peak study hours. Luckily, Marston Science Library’s study space renovations, which includes more than 700 seats, 21 group study rooms, and a focus on technology and furniture that supports collaboration, will be finished in August. Some of MSL’s new study space features are:
First-floor study rooms in Marston will have an online reservation system identical to the one in Library West. Students can check availability and reserve rooms online—three rooms seat 12 and one seats 14.
New Computers with UFIT Lab Software
MSL’s study space will have 82 computers, each with 24″ widescreen monitors and all software found on UFIT lab computers, including Adobe programs, AutoCAD, and MATLAB.
More Space, Seating, and Power
No more tripping on other people’s laptop-charger cords! The Marston study space has power outlets on each table. New, comfier chairs that were selected by students will fill the space.
Multi-Touch Visualization Wall
An additional meeting space separate from the 21 study rooms, and available by request, features the latest in collaboration technology: a multi-touch visualization wall. Multiple users can interact on data sets, presentations and images, creating an efficient social workflow.
