2017 State of UFIT Event

The UF Information Technology division was honored to have President Kent Fuchs give the keynote presentation at this year’s State of UFIT. The crowd of 293 listened to the President speak on the university’s aspiration of global academic and scholarly leadership and the plan for achieving the metrics needed to meet this aspiration by 2025. The full event recording (including the speakers’ PowerPoints) is online.

Instead of focusing on upcoming projects, which historically has been the focus of his State of UFIT presentation, VP and CIO Elias Eldayrie focused instead on our decade ahead. He challenged staff in terms of supporting UF’s mission going forward–IT service rationalization, what services should be centralized and what should be decentralized, increasing cloud services, and to think of ways we can grow from a primarily operational “run” organization to a “grow and transform” organization.

Another highlight of this year’s State of UFIT was the conferring of the President’s Medallion on Dr. Fedro Zazueta, Associate CIO and Director, Academic Technology. Dr. Zazueta, a professor in Agricultural and Biological Engineering, is retiring in August after 35 years of service to the university. Event photos will be uploaded to UFIT’s Facebook page.
